vrs cooling fan siezed

Featured Replies

hi guys, i noticed the larger of the two cooling fan was making some whining noises the other week, but now its finally packed up and almost siezed.

ive been looking on ebay for a replacement as im a bit strapped for cash at the moment and my question is are all vw/skoda twin fans the same? only theres a few on there for vw bora & octavia but nothing for a vrs. they look exactly the same but i know looks can be decieving and wanted to make sure before buying one.

also i was told that the fan resister may now need replacing?

any help on the above would be very appreciated.

many thanks

anyone?

had mine replaced on a 1.9tdi 2004 130bhp last year , same problem seized a/c fan which is the larger of the 2 . was fixed by non vag dealer for 220 including parts , at the time checked with GSF for the part was aboutv 100 , but decided to have it done under my warranty . you are correct about ebay many different types , you need the part number which is located on the motor , to be sure of getting the correct one . in my case there was not a relay prob or replaced . Only the motor and fan . By the way if you keep a/c off or in economy mode the fan is not used anyway , so i was told at the time by another briskoda member .

anyone?

Jeez give 'em a chance they are all in work, or maybe on the toilet
