Fuel Consumption Figures for 1.8 TSI Estate?

Featured Replies

I am due to take ownership of a 1.8TSI Estate on 01/03/2010. I am aware of the fuel consumption figures in the book but would like to know what other owners are getting in terms of MPG. Also what is the best speed to drive to get the best MPG?? Thanks..

Mines the hatchback but I would imagine the estate wouldn't be much different. Consumption for the last tank was 37mpg according to the computer but more like 34mpg in reality, currently showing about 32mpg for this tank due to more short journeys.

I don't find speed makes a great deal of difference to the consumption but acceleration does, though I'd say its at it best at around 45mph.

I think you can probably expect low thirties in general use whilst having a bit of fun, mid thirties driving conservatively and high thirties if you drive for economy.

Out of intrest, iom in the process of haggling a deal in a 1.8 estate. How long ago did you order it? Ive heard ther is quite a wait for them. Im looking at the DSG, I dont know if that will shorten or lenghen the wait time.

Cheers

I have had mine since Sept and it has only done 3600 miles..............a commute of 7 miles each way and knocking about locally and the readout shows 32-33 mpg......on a non stop run of 168 miles it showed 38.8 mpg at 68mph average speed for the trip. How accurate the read out is I don't know but £20.00 of fuel usually does 120 miles+

I did not buy a 1.8TSI to worry about fuel too much but you should try and enjoy the pulling qualities after the running in period.......I have tried to drive in the style of an undertaker's assistant but usually fail very quickly.

The best mpg i have achieved is when the car is in the drive with the engine off!!

Mine's a hatch too - I reckon at about 60 to 65 steady, on cruise control, is best mpg, usually getting to low 40's. But only after 40 or 50 minutes driving like that.

Good choice the 1.8TSi, had my hatchback Elegance 3 months now and after 2800 miles tend to get a computer average of about 35mpg in mixed driving. I agree with the other post that the computer is about 3mpg optiomistic so about 32mpg. On a long run on motorways i got 40mpg on computer and on one run with my new Plamsa TV on the back seat driving like my dad at speeds up to about 50mph and short changing etc got 47mpg on the computer on a 20 mile journey. I do watch the consumption but do love the way it drives and can't help opening it up in 3rd gear.

I would plan for 30mpg real world mixed driving so you dont get your hopes up but expect better if you can control your right foot.
