Anyone ever locked their keys in their boot?

Featured Replies

how many people have popped there boot with the key fob whilst the doors are locked then shut the boot and left the keys in the boot? very nearly did it today. could prove to be a problem if you ever did it a long way from home.

I have never done it, but I can see how I could. Opening the boot either unlocking or using the middle button, then taking off my overalls or a coat and leaving the keys in the pocket, then shutting the boot, locking them in. :o Have you noticed if you unlock the car and only use the boot, after a while the car automatically locks itself.

On my old car I had to use a key to open the boot (no button or leaver) and I was always scared of doing the same (never did though).

Never done this, but almost have before! Its why cars come with 2 keys lol

Pretty sure they lock after about 15 seconds if you don't open a door

I worry about SWMO doing it, as she quite often locks the car, THEN pops the boot on the fob.

WHY? :S

THEIR, old chap, not THERE

i nearly did it in the jag once because you can pop the trunk up to 15 secs after locking the car (if you need a brolly or sumit) and i left the key inside and just as i was about to close the boot i realised!! good job i did the car boot locks itself when you shut it in tose cases!

I have done it when moving a guitar amp from one boot to another. My spare key was at my parents house who were away on holiday for 2 weeks. The key to my parents house was in the boot with the car keys. In the end I had to get a lift from work to my brothers house as he had keys to my parents house. Haven't done it since though :giggle:

no i always make sure i hve them before shutting the boot

Locked myself in my boot before....

I've had the AA out before, and I've also locked myself in my boot before... at a car show...

Do you mean this literally? You climbed inside the boot and shut the hatch, then it looked itself? :o:doh:

Isn't there an orange leaver that you can manually open it from the inside?

It was in my old Vento

Was a "can Babs fit in his own boot?" "Vento's boot's are massive!"... I crawled in and put it down, then remembered I had opened the boot with the key, and not opened the rest of the car, so they boot had locked!

Luckily the sunroof was open, and someone climbed in, pulled the seat backs down, I gave him the keys and he let me out

Yes, not with the Fabia but with a Metro and a Corsa. The Metro was opened by a local who used a piece of binder tape - took 30 seconds! The Corsa I had to leave overnight and get a new key in the morning. Luckily had the key number (but no spare key). More careful these days and always have a spare key in the house. After the Corsa incident I fastened a spare key to the lower radiator hose. Can't do this with the Fabia because of the undertray, but I guess there are other suitable places. There was a key 'box' on sale at one time which magnetically attached to the car underside, but how this would affect any electronic parts I've no idea.

I'd have removed the orange lever......:giggle:

Yep. Took nearly an hour for the AA man to get in, and a fair bit of time to rectify the damage too...
