Stuttering

Featured Replies

I have a MK1 turbo elegance. Driving at around 1500 - 1700 rpm it stutters, sometimes to the point of the car almost coming to a standstill. It feels like hitting the rev limiter and the ecu cuts the power.

Took it for a service yesterday and mentioned it to them but they said they found nothing. I took that to mean they didnt look.

I dont have vag com and dont know of anyone in my area who has.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Could be bad turbo kick?

Have a good look about for any split pipes, could be your dump valve not dumping the pressure, that will kill the power so sould open and clean it.

As well as your throttle body< http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/129943-cleaning-throttle-body-1-8t-engine/

Sound like coil pack possibly

Try a Throttle body clean. I had the same symptoms in 1st and 2nd gear and cleaning the throttle body sorted it completely.

Will clean the throttle body over the weekend. As for the split hoses, is there any in particular that I should check?

Yes, the small-bore hard to get at ones on the exhaust side of the engine that need a manual inspection because you physically can't get your head into places to look at them.
