Fiscon and Fitting Advice

Featured Replies

I'm currently awaiting delivery of my new VRS but i plan to get a Fiscon kit fitted to it asap so im going to buy it so its ready for when the car arrives, however im wondering on two things, where is the best price to get one of these from ? best i can find is fiscon.co.uk at 352.50 inc vat for the basic plus version.

Also can anyone recommend an installer that covers the south wales area who will do a good job of fitting this? while i've heard its easy to fit and im an IT Engineer by trade, im useless at anything to do with cars and i dont fancy messing up my lovely new car.

Looks like the same one I will get for my new Octy. I'm fitting mine myself though, all the wires are plug and play. 30 minutes work I reckon.

but what about running the mic to overhead somewhere? it appears it may be possible to fit it in the overhead light?

The OEM location is the overhead light, but if you read the fiscon installation manual it specifically says not to install their mic in that location. A cable run up the A pillar and across the headlining is very straight forward.

Waplord - have a drive to Milton Keynes and get www.richtersport.co.uk to fit it. They'll do it in an hour while u wait. I got mine fitted there (drove up from Brighton on way to a mate's) and no issues, great service - it was c.£410 all in from memory.

I have a pdf of the installation guide / instruction manual pm me your email addy and i'll forward it on.

thanks for the advice and offer of the manual, i've got it downloaded from their website now though thanks. I'll certainly bear them in mind but its quite the trek from 20 miles other direction past Swansea to get there, but then again it'll be a nice long drive in the new car

I used these guys in Leicester, was there just over an hour and it was £400 fitted, very happy with it

DO NOT PAY ANYBODY TO DO THIS FOR YOU

Sorry for caps but it is a 10-20 minute job max and that INLCUDES putting the Mic in the overhead light. I know as thats how long it took me.

It is a straight forwards plug and play and how anyone can charge £50+ to fit this is beyond me. Thats a £150-£300 per hour labour charge.

What are they doing putting it together in a Hermetically sealed chamber??

I can fit it for you for free if you fancy travelling to Folkestone. Or on one of my journeys up North i can call in or meet you half way.

Seriously if you are a Technical engineer you will have no problem and i can even do a picture tutorial if you wish.

Also the info about not locating the Mic overhead is misleading. It's fine to do and you just have to test it to make sure you don't get any feedback when driving. Mine works perfectly and the sound quality is actually better than when the mic was on display.

I got mine from Fiscon.co.uk aswell. Very fast next day delivery

My Fiscon mic is in the top right corner of the A pillar just where the trim that runs up the pillar stops. You can hardly see it there, in fact I didn't even notice it for a couple of days.

It works perfectly there for both front and rear seat passengers to talk on the phone.

Got to agree here, its an easy job. I'll be putting the mic inside the interior light in mine, I dont want anything 'on show'. If there is too much feedback then I will fit an OEM mic instead. Hopefully the Fiscon one will work ok though.

Thank you for the incredibly kind offer Carl,

i think i'll order the kit soon have it ready and waiting and i'll have a go at it myself just taking it very slow and steady and if i get unstuck im sure i'll be back asking you guys for advice!

The Fiscon kit will not work with the OEM mic unfortunately

I put mine in the overhead light and as i said it works perfectly.

Waplord - i will try next week and take some pics to do a tutorial on the install

It really is very very very easy though and even taking it slowly you will prob take no longer than 30 mins

I have just ordered a new VRS so is the standard Bolero touch screen head unit the same as RCD-510 VW head unit?

Hi

I'm also interested in the fiscon unit. I was wondering if it's possible to control the phone through the stalk and view phone info on the dash without connecting up to vag com (I have maxidot)? This is the only thing that is making me think I'd be best off getting it installed professionally?

Thanks

If you fancy a drive to folkestone i'll do it for you for free :)

It is supposed to work straight away. However i found i had to code it.

I've got VCDS so it will be no problem
