hi hope someone could help,ive had this code pop up every few days,

Error in Mapped Cooling System (usually temp Sensor or Thermostat) : P1296

ive replaced the green coolant sensor but still getting engine light come on,im a bit fed up with having to easer fault.

If it's not the coolant temp sensor then it may be the thermostat. See this post for details:

It's worth checking the coolant temp sensor you've replaced the old one with is working correctly first though, coz a few people on here have bought non-genuine ones off of ebay and found they don't work.

Make sure the car has been stood cold for a few hours, then if you have a copy of VAG-Com, plug it in then turn the ignition to position one (don't start the engine) and check what the coolant temperature value is in VAG-Com. It should be close to ambient temp (e.g. 2 degrees if outside temperature is 0 degrees), if it's not then either the coolant temp sensor is still dodgy or the wiring between the sensor and ECU is playing up.
