Found a Clio Cup---But!

Featured Replies

I have found cheap Clio cup which I want to buy, however it is a cat c jobbie. It's been repaired ok and Vic certified ok. mot is current. The question is, do insurance co.s load up the insurance premium because of it's write off history? and am I liable to forward the cat c history to them?

I've checked with DVLA that the vic 20 certificate is legit but they cannot comment on how this affects future insurance cover.

I would imagine a Cat C would be more, but equally the fact it is worth less than a non-written off version might be a plus factor in terms of premium?

assuming this is mainly for track use? why bother insuring it, tow it to track behind the soot monster, job done!! :giggle:

I can't see any reason a Cat C car would cost more to insure unless it had been modified as part of the repair. It's not the car's fault it crashed :)

Good idea, but wifey would not be pleased if I took both cars for the day, she needs transport to work.

I've gone on to insurers comparers.com and they do not ask if it is categorised. Perhaps I should speak to one of them, I'll give it go tomorrow to clarify.

And the Fabia vRS cannot tow...

Yes, it would be too embarrassing.

I dont think they load the premium , its just they will value it less if theres a claim , have a mate that runs an insurance brokerage so can ask if you want .

IIRC Jonnycatbiscuit and Stuart J run written off cars, maybe they can shed some light on this.
