Head unit change and insurance

Featured Replies

I have an '06 vRS with the Stream head unit.

If I purchase a Bolero or Columbus head unit, should it affect my insurance premium ?

it shouldnt do, most policies cover upto a certain amount for audio equipment rather than a specific model.

Although it shouldn't alter your premium (I know mine hasn't) I would still recommend letting the insurance company know what you've got fitted.

If it does get stolen it then makes replacement a lot easier - no arguments about "standard" equipment etc.

Cheers, I figured I'd let them know either way.

But if I'm working out if I can afford a new unit, I didn't want to phone them up and then realise I have another cost!

Most insurers will cover up to £500 of permanently fitted audio/visual equipment.
