Hybrid Turbo Fitting - Circulating Oil

Featured Replies

My car is going to a friends garage tomorrow to get the clutch changed out so I thought this would be a good time to swap the turbo over as well.

I have new gaskets/bolts/oil feed hose/oil to go with it to make sure everything stays healthy.

My question is, once I have fitted it which relay do I pull so that I can crank it over a few times to circulate the oil through it before starting the car up?

Cheers

bump

I dont know if the fuel system on the fabia tdi is self priming, but i wouldn't recommend pulling the fuel pump fuse/relay just incase.

I'd probably take the glow plugs out and stick some rags over the holes, i dont think there would be enough compression still to cause it to ignite. But i'd like someone else to comment on this before you do it.

Otherwise my next best bet would be the crank sensor.

Which will probably need the fault codes clearing after.

Just start it up! :p

Cranking does not circulate the oil - just primes the fuel system.

Been doing some more reading in to this, apparently there is a module on the right hand side of the PD130 engines (Golf's anyway) that you can just disconnect to do the job...

Have you any links to this method?

That module is the fuel pump isn't it? Not aware of any modules down there ref oil anyway.

No links, just one of those things I'm sure I read somewhere.

Pretty pointless unless you fit a new oil pump. Just start it up, and don't rev it for a minute. The turbo oil line comes straight from the main oil gallery, and it will see oil in a second.
