Rear Wheel Arch Liner Problem

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Having noticed the little front mudflap thing (at the front of the wheel arch, right across the bottom edge) had snapped off from the front of the rear wheel arch liner on my vRS, I replaced it with a new one. This lasted a month or so, and washing the car yesterday I noticed it has now snapped off the new one too. Now I've done a search and found nothing relevant. The car hasn't been driven through any rough terrain or subjected to any treatment that would result in this, so I'm guessing it may be a weak point? Has anyone else experienced this? Thing is, I want the mud flap bit there, so if I fit another will it just happen again?? Any pointers, tips and or advice would be well received. I'll happily buy and fit another, I'd just rather not throw £25 away again- I'd like the mud flap bit to stay put!

Thanks in advance, Clarkey.

i don't remember anybody else on here having the same problem

Never seen this happen.

Join the club! OS went ages ago NS hanging on in there, Just!

Yep, me too

also happened to me bought a new one still ok a year on thankfully

Me to! My offside one was cracked when i bought the car a year ago,no other damage to sill or surrounding area, difficult to see how it could become damaged......

Stones being flicked up from the front wheel would be my guess?

I did my OS one in when U turning to escape a queue behind an accident. Going up onto the kerb in the middle of the road (urban speed restricted dual carraigeway). Either the 'U'ey or getting out of the way of the Police/Ambulance beforehand broke it. It's hanging on pathetically by one corner. Plan A is to clean it, then power-duck-tape it. :-)

Just been washing my mums vRS and have noticed this has hapened to the rear drivers side liner, its not fully hanging off, anything I can use to repair the crack?

Cheers

Chris

Any idea what this felt pad is in the wheel liner? Is it noise or spray suppression as the replacement I just fitted hasn't got one.

Noise insulation.

My drivers side has the flap broken at the bottom, seems I am not the only one then.

Was wondering what the bloke who owned it before me had been doing to the car to bust it off!

Must be a weak area.

I think you are right, it must be a weak point in the design. Mine was partially hanging off for months and you could see it hadn't clipped anything because the plastic wasn't grazed.

1 of mine was broken when i got the car and the other went about 3 months ago! TBH they dont do much apart from brake when a stone hits them.....

yep same here! one randomly disappeared! then the other in the space of a week or so! i have no idea at all how that happened! isnt it like 35 pounds for a new liner?

26.

mines gone for the second time passenger side

I drive along country roads a lot and I don t think it stnads much chance against stones and other road debris

The sills take a hammering as well, went through the paint in places

had an argy bargy with skoda Customer service trying to get it done under warranty, as not fit for purpose

Skoda "its been abraided by road debris sir , fair wear and tear" :swear:

ended up paying to have spray chip stuff put on and re-painted like it should have had in the first place!!

The little spoiler is pretty vulnerable doesnt surprise me to see others with same problem

Delete, delete, already contributed to the thread.

Can you fix a straight piece of rubber/ aluminum in the place of original strip,

both should have enough flexibility if knocked??

Are we all forgetting about the snow, slush and ice we were struggling through a couple of months ago....?

My o/s one bust last year - replacement was about £30 inc. No felt pads like the original tho'...

it doesnt do much anyway the end of the sill isnt exposed its all stone chipped and painted anyway

I have asked the dealer to track down the felt pad - it isn't listed on ETKA.

Rubber backed carpet tile from Homebase and some contact adhesive. Vast choice of colours and textures and cheaper. :D

Its common they always snap off
