In-car bluetooth devices - any good ?

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried one of these types of devices ?

Cheap as chips, and you probably get what you pay for, but I don't use a mobile enough to invest in a £300 dedicated bluetooth system.

Aint heard one of those ,but most of the ones of that type i have heard sound terrible, and as for £300 get a parrot kit for half that and they are good ,i have the ck3200 and it is the dogs danglies.emoticon-0100-smile.gif

A few years back I had a Jabra SP500 bluetooth speakerphone thing that you clipped to the sun visor.

It was the biggest pile of crap I have ever bought (apart from a BB Storm) and I literally chucked it in the bin.

The biggest problem is the background noise. The speaker was never loud enough and it always had a problem filtering road noise from speech and we all know the Octavia isn't the quietest car on the road.

On the motorway I couldn't hear the caller and the caller couldn't hear me.

I tried another make and model but I can't recall which - either way it was just as crappy as the SP500.

I still use a bluetooth headset and its the best solution other than shelling out big bucks for a hard wired system.

About a year ago I bought a VisorLite from the carphone whorehouse as seen here.. http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/phone-accessories/in-car-products/portable-carkits/buy/VISORLITE-GO-PORTABLE-CARKIT

Not bad, and works ok, easy to set up and easy to use, nothing like caller ID or anything like that, but better IMO than a bluetooth earpiece, as these do my nut in. My girlfriend has is now as I don't need it with the unit in my Superb II.

You can get a decent plumbed in Nokia or Parrot kit for £80.

No.

Crap.

As are all the other Bluetooth visor devices and a lot of headsets.

As mentioned...the 3200 is a great value piece of kit and is easy to install.
