Ride Height Of Octavia vRs Mk 1

Featured Replies

I'm new to all this, but I need some help and advice. One of my front springs broke and had to be replaced asap. Due to the position of the break I was unable to get the car to my regular garage. To cut a long story short, both front springs have been replaced, with what I was told were "like for like", which at the moment is all I could afford. They said they sourced them from there parts company and the new springs match the originals patent.

Now here is my problem. The front is an awful lot higher than it was even when I purchased it with 25k on clock (which it may be to old springs) and in comparison to other vRS models I have seen. The garage said this was normal and that within a week or two the springs would settle down. Well they haven't and in fact when the distance from ground to peak of wheel arch is measured there is a difference of 7mm between each side!

Does anyone know the ball park figure of how high the front should be? It just now looks really ugly and doesn't drive as nicely particularly at higher speeds. If anything I would have wanted it lowered!

Any help would be appreciated

The octy VRS has lowered suspension compared to the standard octavia, I suspect they have fitted the wrong springs and used thos from a standard octy which would leave your front end about 20mm higher than before.

Can you see what colour spots the colour coding of the front spings are, you may need to remove a wheel to do this, standard vrs springs should be 3 yellow, 1 purple. If these are correct, then there is some other issue....

Just to re-bump this thread, ask the garage where they got the springs from. You can only get proper vRS springs from the dealer or TPS.

Sounds like they have put the standard octavia springs in to me.
