VERY cheap media centre box

Featured Replies

Well heres something im sorely tempted to order...

Acer Aspire Revo £129.92

Its a small PC housing a 1.6ghz intel atom and Nvidia ION chipset and geforce 9400m graphics.

The good thing about this is that it has hardware video accelleration that can handle 1080p and also a HDMI connection, making it an ideal pc to stick under the telly.. throw a bit more memory in, stick win7 or XBMC on it and hey presto a media PC.

Id buy one if i didnt already have a Xstreamer for these duties... hell im still considering it anyway!

i was looking to put one in for a second media pc, just annoying that microsoft will not design a software extender for media centre.

Even cheaper, I got one of these and it talks to my WHS quite nicely, 1080p and HDMI out.

GUI is fairly poor but I can quickly find what I want to listen to or watch so not a big issue.

After following a few threads on AVForums , I decided on one of these beasts :)

Cyclone MKV

Has played everything I have tried so far. Wireless works great. Very quiet and very low power consumption.

Interface a little miki mouse but I believe any of the realtek based firmwares work on it if you want to change.

Was gonna build a media pc but this does everything I would have asked of one.

Nice bit of kit that

As you say, more tech temptation! :o

Very tempting! Just what i've been looking for recently..

Hmmm... I'm looking for something to replace my ageing laptop that I current use as a downloader/way of looking at stuff that work blocks :D

Looks a great bit of kit for only £130 though.

IIRC those Revo units can mount on a standard VESA mount, so if you haven't got your flat screen on the wall (or snug up to the wall) you can mount it on the back of the TV.
