Tyre selection

Featured Replies

Ok dokey peeps, looking at alternative set of shoes for the Furby vRS. Keeping the standard wheels as there classic old school (cant afford new nice uns at the mo) so looking for some input. I have heard about tyre wear and whether to pick a hard or soft compound tyre but mainly im looking for grip and as long lasting as possible. I have been recoomended yokes but being jap im assuming there gonna burn very very quick. anyone know of a happy affordable mix betweengrip and affordability (i.e. initial price and also not having to change the ruddy things every 2000 miles) :elefant: :sofahide:

How have the standard tyres (Pilots?) held up? Are you changing because they're dead, or just because you fancy a change? :)

They have held up pretty well to be honest. I fast approaching 15000 miles and im still well within the limit. The grip in the wet though is apalling. Whell spin easily in 3rd (especially since the chipo).

Will be replacing soon when these ones have dies a death. But asking now so i can go shopping for them! :fro: :pimp: :airjock: :rice:

I have put Toyo Proxes T1-S tyres on my Octavia and they seems to stick well to the road in the dry and in the wet too. The tread pattern also looks nice. dunno what they are like on the Fabia, but imagine they are worth looking into. also, they are in the more affordable end of the market without being in the crap league. TVR fit them as standard to their Tuscan R, Mitsy to their Evo and scooby to the Sti. Check them out and see what you think  .

steve.

I've just bought some Pirelli P1's and they seem to grip a fair bit better than the Michelins particularly in the wet.

Fabiaman, per my thread yesterday on Yok's, check out Motorworld, very reasonably priced. May burn out quicker, but if half the price and 2/3rds the mileage you won't go wrong.

How much would i be looking at some P1s? They are a nice tyre i know that much. The toyos seem a good price.

I dont think they make them any more, unfortunately. I got a pair of them from my mate for

I went with Vredestein's Ultrac and i'm very satisfied on dry & wet. Damn, they are just fine even on snow !

They only do them in a V speed rating but I suppose that's okay.

Isn't it?

Andy, they're fine unless you are planning on doing over 149mph, continuously :D
