Advice Required regarding Logbook etc

Featured Replies

Hi All

I bought an octavia vrs about a month and half ago, however I have yet to receive the logbook which I find rather strange.

I have got the new keeper supplement (V5C/2), could I contact dvla to request a copy? I have tried contact the previous owner of whom is on her, but no contact made.

any advice appreciated.

Not an expert but I've looked up my own documents to give you a guide

.

The V5C/2 (which you have) is the one you receive directly from the original owner at the time of sale and forms part of V5C which is the registration Cerificate.

Section 10 of the V5C/2 is valid for 2 months from the date of sale for relicensing purposes until a new certificate is received from the DVLA. The guidance notes from DVLA say' If you do not receive the Certificate within 6 weeks contact Customer Enquiry Group on 0870 240 0010.'

I would give the DVLA a call to check (hoping that the original owner has returned the other parts of the Cetificate to the DVLA)

Hope that helps.

HI there.

The best thing to do is contact the DVLA asap. They will then check to see if they have received the paperwork from the previous owner. If they have then they will give you an eta for your new log book. If they have not then they will write directly to the previous owner asking them to confirm sale or transfer of the vehicle.

Hope this helps mate

I got the V5 for the superb I bought 2 weeks ago in the post last friday, less than 14 days after purchase.

hi there i also purchased a car 6-7 weeks ago,(during the big snow week) i contacted dvla on friday and was told to fill in a v62 form from a post office, and attaching the v5c/2 waives the fee, it then takes them 20-30 days for them to process it.

i was able to contact the former owner and he said he sent it, so i dont know if there was postage issue during all the snow!

When I bought my Octavia last year, my log book went astray (Post Person later convicted of stealing the mail!) and I called the DVLA and they confirmed that my log book had been posted out previously and then sent me a replacement, free of charge, which I received within a few days.

dvla said my car isnt in my name yet so its gone astray going the other way!

Trez, V5 was sent off weeks ago buddy, and you've not contacted me yet to ask about it either !

But just to note, my wife bought a car 4 weeks ago, and we've not received the V5 back yet either.
