Very interested in your quote that 43mpg is easily obtainable. 230 mile trip from Devon last night saw 36mpg and best I have seen is 37mpg. My 20 minute commute which includes a range of roads and speeds just makes an indicated 30 mpg - mid 20's around town. Local dealer here in Cambridge says thats best I can hope for. I am hoping this will increase as I put the miles on - currently just 2,500. Anyone seriously getting 40+ on a run in a petrol VRS?

Yes, I have just done a 1000 mile trip to Scotland and back and avaraged 43 mpg! tbh it was higher at certain times! The FL does seem more economical than my last 56 plate petrol vRS

Cheers..

Yes just come back from Wales and did 43 Mpg again. Trick is to do a few things, Motorways are killer compared to A roads. Unfortunately down to Devon there is not much choice but the M5. I am an avid free-wheeler. So do the Plymouth side of Holden hill etc I will free-wheel for half a mile or so, same with Rattery etc. It makes the journey more interesting to try and judge it so you keep to the 70-ish on the GPS (speedo over-reads by about 5%). Key things are not to drive it around town or short journeys. I use our little Grande Punto or M/c for that. Tyres around 35 PSI and most importantly good predictive driving. Engine revs around 1500 rpm unless gunning!
