Rusting door

Featured Replies

Before I take my car to the local dealer, has anybody had a problem with rust along the bottom of the drivers door? If so what was the outcome, the cars a Fabia Vrs 54 plate, cheers

TBH rust is one thing you don't hear much about!

Has the door been repaired in the past?

I bought the car from a mate in 2006, the sill had been repaired but there was no damage to the door, slightly worried though in case they tampered with it!

Unless the drain holes are blocked, very unusual. Car is zinc plated inside and out.

Yup. I'd have thought the most common cause of rusting on the door would be if someone opened it when on an incline, and scuffed the underside on some dirt/concrete/stone/tree/etc, taking the paint off & scratching the metal.

A mate has a paintwork shop he said 99 percent of people that come in to the workshop asking why a certain panel is rusting it's because it has been replaced by a crap workshop so that would be my guess.

I would say that when the driver's door has been opened at some point that it has been next to a high pavement and scraped the floor.

What out for those high kerbs.

First time i've heard of rust on a Fabia vRS.
