mac dual boot?

Featured Replies

hi folks, has anybody got any info on that dual boot thing you can do on mac's?? boot camp??

what software do i need to buy to get it running? do i need to partition my hard disc?

Run boot camp, have your mac install disc handy and follow the wizard...Simples! Win7 Ultimate runs like a dream on my iMac. You need a mac newer than a G5 ie an Intel processor.

oh yeah, erm it's an intel dual core thing

If you're feeling a bit more adventurous you could run the OS as a Virtual Machine using something like Parallels or VMWare Fusion - Fusion allows you to run Windows apps from within OSX, it works really well. There's a trial version available too:

www.VMware.com/Fusion

I've setup my Mac Mini running an XP virtual machine as a file server, weather station monitor and web server in the background whislt using OSX for web browsing etc.

Or use virtualbox which is totally free.

That is a bit backward, unless you are running the box as a honeypot.

VM Fusion all the way, avoid Parallels and boot camp I have found unstable at times.

I use VMware Fusion 3 and boot camp to Win7 64bit edition. Boot camp has been rock solid on Windows 7 for games on the MBP, I run Sage line 50 for the accounts in VMWare fusion on the iMac again without any issues. I use Windows 7 more than OSX on the MBP these days though as it's faster :)
