Coolant Light Intermittent - Is It Coolant Sensor?

Featured Replies

I have enough anti freeze in the car - Sometimes when the car is cold the coolant light comes on the dashbboard - Is it correct to say that the coolant sensor needs replacing??

Thanks

It is most likely the prongs in the expansion bottle getting a bit cacked up and particularly when it's cold the car thinks it's low on coolant. Try scraping them with a screwdriver to remove the muck or replace the bottle, it costs about £15 I believe.

Just to make it clear we are not talking about the engine coolant temperature sensor. But the low coolant level sensor in the expansion bottle.
