Help! Octy Vrs vs Furby Vrs

Featured Replies

Can anyone who has driven both the furby and octy vrs give me a comparison?

The reason I ask is i now need more room than the furby can provide and was going to replace it with a new octy 140 Elegance Estate, having driven a 140 hatchback i was most impressed with the handling and mid range acceleration! ,but i'm put off slightly by the cost( approx 17.5k with met paint and heated seats). I ran a 130 bhp classic octy estate for 6 months but didn't rate the handling. with the recent price drop the classic octy Vrs is looking a right bargain, but having never driven one, can anyone comment especially on mid range acc ( need to do lots of overtaking) handling and braking!

many thanks stokey

Buy the Octy RS.

Remap it.

Change pads for DS2500's and do fluids.

Go have fun ;)

At the end of the car you're comparing chalk and cheese. They are both great cars in their own right but it depends on your requirements overall and day to day. I'm biased of course but then again I've never driven a Fabia vRS and in any case it's

If you need the practicality of space go for the Octy. The mid range acceleration, handling and braking are fine as it comes. Personally I prefer the handling and braking of the Octy - it just feels a bit more sure footed. The Furby, I think, sits a bit high on the road and is a bit wallowy in corners - not sure why Skoda didn't lower it a bit further. The brakes are not as sharp as the Octy. However, for mid range acceleration you will find the Octy a step down from the Furby which is much more fun.

Overall, while I like a drive now and again in Mrs R's Furby, just to feel that acceleration, I prefer my Octy

I own a Fabia vRS and took a test drive in the Octy when those tempting run out prices were announced.

I really liked the Octy - interior quality and refinement in particualr were big plus points.

I did not think it felt that much quicker than the Furby - but that is as much to do witrh it not having the same surge - looking at the speedo it was going bloomin fast!!

Overall, I liked it - but felt that there was no economic advantage to changing either in terms of the extra insurance or the cost to settle the finance etc on the furby. I don't need the size and will wait until next summer (after my wedding) and pick myself an R32 or an M Coupe...

Or maybe a Z4 or a 330i cab...

Or a new Octy vRS... Megane 225 (Bright Orange)... Lotus Eli...

On and on and on. Even I can get bored deciding!! :D

Theres not all that much difference in acceleration between the Furby and Octy until speeds of 90+ are reached IMO. I seem to have no problem keeping up with them on the twisties ;):D

Its cheaper to run, buy and insure, and it is good fun. I probably think the Octy looks slightly better on the outside, but I think I prefer the interior of the Furby, but it'll always be each to their own.

Both good cars but with different characters. I guess the Octy is bigger and more refined and you may like that, Furby a bit of a hooligan but good fun. Take your pic...

Fabia vRS is

Got one of each :)

Octy feels much more 'controlled' than the Furby.

Disagree with Mr Birkett about the pull. You have the pull in the Fabia but also you can get it from the Octy too.

Furby is better in the twisties as stated due to the torque.

If you can afford the insurance and fuel go for the octy.

Put it this way, I won't be getting another Fabia vrs after this one.

The fuel and insurance costs are probably a big factor, depending on your annual mileage.

Personally, I like being able to thrash the Fabia occasionally, whilst still returning over 45mpg on average.

Thanks for all the advice, I don't really want to get rid of the furby, the only problem i have with it ( besides needing more room) are the seats being impossible to keep clean, if ( like they do) get stained merely by rainwater dripping on them when you open the door, then they are not fit for genaral use and skoda should scotchguard them from new! The octy Vrs is looking temping at present prices, i just wonder if in the next few months skoda will do a run out special loaded with goodies??

My other alternative would be a 105bhp new octy elegance, if i could get an AMD like reversible remap as the

I never said anything about the pull in either car. :P
