Be very afraid!

Featured Replies

Back in January, amidst the polar bears, snow and ice I suffered a bump to the nearside rear panel. The car was taken to an approved repairer by the insurance company. Disappointed to hear that the panel would need to be complely replaced but delighted to be informed that the car should be ready in about ten days, partly due to pressure of work and that parts had to be ordered.

Today, the 3rd of March I am again informed that the rear quarter panel is still on back order with no indication from Skoda as to when it will be available IN THE UK!!

The repairers are using an approved VAG, Seat, Skoda parts supplier. I have queried my local Skoda dealer (Mitchell Skoda at Cheshire Oaks) and they confirm that the system shows no stock listed for the UK. I cannot in all seriousness believe I am the first Roomster driver to need repairs to the rear quarter panel - or that there are no spare parts!

I have now written to the MD at Skoda UK seeking his assistance in sorting this out.

The repairers have been very helpful, if not frustrated in getting the car sorted out. Frankly, I just find the situation ridiculous - I wish I had just carried on driving the car with a big dent in the side!!

So be warned, whatever you do, do not dent the nearside rear quarter panel as there are none to be had in the UK (or the continent either by the sound of things). All together a very poor show.

So much for Skoda manufacturing happy motorists...

Sorry to read that, I guess Skoda expect their drivers to be lucky....

TBH I thought this was going to be a Suzuki thing: "Be afraid, be very afraid" :)

Thought that it was Toyota drivers that needed to be afraid... :giggle:

That's just poor service on Skoda's part. I used to work for a vauxhall dealer and if he parts were not in the UK it only took around 10 days to get them from Germany. If it was a weird and wonderful part you would expect a delay but not body panels.

Part number for a nearside rear panel is 5J7809605C,not a back order part from the information I have.Who ever told you that it's a complete porkie.
