Traded in my Octy Vrs

Featured Replies

Just chopped in the Octy VRS for a Saab 9-3 Aero MY04....lovely!

Interestingly, on comparison, the skoda wins hands down in terms of value for money...get this, an optional extra on the top of the line Aero is 'One touch comfort close' electric windows!!!!! In addition, the std stereo is ****e with no CD changer.

Why did I change then? Good question - it looks better?

As an aside, going trade in rate for a 17K 2003 (53) Octy Vrs, with Cruise and Parking is

As an additional point of interest...when the garage did the HPI check on my car, it came back as a Seat Ibiza!!! Apparently this is a common problem and er 'normal' on VAG cars to get it wrong. Doesn't do much in the way of inspiring confidence for private buyers...

I have a new 9-3 Vector Sport on its way for December. The spec is actually better on comfort extras than the range topper Aero - it comes with the stereo upgrade, parking sensors and the one touch windows as standard.

I would of liked the Aero but wanted Diesel so orderd the range topping Diesel which is the 150 bhp vector sport, added the 13 speaker upgrade / sports chassis and aero body kit. I had a loan 9-3 diesel in the same spec and i agree the skoda is way better VFM, the saab was way slower than my mapped octy and sometimes I wonder why im changing - hence im probubly going to keep the vRS as well :)

The SAAB is really well screwed together and the materials are classy, the Aero is a good choice. I will just have to tune the diesel ;)

Hmmm, good choice in retrospect. That said, I had little choice as mine is used (albeit registered in may this year with 4K on the clock)....

Just have to live without the CD changer and the one touch windows...this'll drive me mad at work with the car park barriers....must be a retrofit option / some form of input port config jobby surely...?

Mines espresso black whats yours?

Brian

Went for Laser Red, would of had black but my last two cars have been black and i vowed never again the first itme round :P - cant commit to cleaning the thing more than once a week so Red it was

hopefully the wheels will be easier to clean.

Out of curiousity, found any decent saab forums...?

The ones I've seen so far are :

www.saabcentral.com - bit like briskoda but its an american site

www.saabscene.co.uk - uk site, but its rubbish

Brian

Thats exactly what i was going to ask you. All I found were complete crap, guess that shows how good this one is :)

I was advised by my local saab dealer that modification was possible without affecting warranty as long as i used a dealer that supplied saab tuning options - he poited me towards reading saab to get ant works done. Be interested to see what the 1.9 tid 150 will chip to, the aero should be good for at least 240bhp :D with a remap.
