My first mod....be it a little one

Featured Replies

Relised Ive had the furby for around 10 months and its still completly standard! Cant have that I thought so Id thought I start with something small, and something I personally hate about the car.

The horrible crome crap around the grill.

So this morning I dissmanted it

P1020133.jpg

Sanded the crome down and primed it

And sprayed it black

Not the best spraying but for my first time I was proud of myself (Self Five)

Just letting it dry and tomorrow Im going to Lacqure it and slap it on.

Any comments welcome

I'd have gone for body colour myself, but black makes a good basecoat for silver, so if you change your mind later...

Why black?

It will look good when its finished I think.

As for black well it matches the numberplate surround and the chrome does look a little cheap in my opinion, may well do mine.

I did this about a month ago. Looks good until you get a stonechip. I was so devastated when I got out, looked back and 3 dirty great stonechips!

Looking good steavobeavo, guess you decided to go with paint after all.

Hope you get the look you're after. Looking forward to seeing it on the car again.

I just saw you're based in Lincoln VRSETS. Thats where my man for carbon wrapping resides.

I dunno if you like the carbon look or not but for you it would be £40 quid all in cos you could save yourself the postage.

Which in my case was £15 in total. Whats more in the future if you ever tire of it or want to sell the car on

Then you can remove the wrap and return it to standard. Here's his link just in case you are interested.

He is also a brisky member. iantype-r  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Auto-Elite-Detailing/244494057063?ref=ts

The black grille on his page is my one.

Cheers guys, Choose black as it breaks up the front abit more. Ill get a pic up tomorrow after Ive lacqured it :)

glad to see another chrome surround bite the dust!

imo its what lets the car down in the looks department. really does look out of place and since i went black (:wonder: ...haha) i have grown to hate chrome even more! with it being such a simple thing you wonder why skoda didnt do it to start with!

I think it looks much better

Does look good, better than chrome! :)

Good job!

Looking good

I painted my cars grille about 1 1/2 years ago, decided to respray it again yesterday as it was looking a bit scruffy. I too ordered a new badge, due to the original going cloudy!

Take it to a bodyshop and you won't need to repaint it lol :)

Will do next time when I'm getting more work done but its lasted alot of motorway miles, its the laquer anyway that was dented, not flaking paint
