6,074 miles in 29 days

Featured Replies

I found an interesting article on a holiday report where a couple have driven from Moscow to Barcelona in a Superb II. They left on 6 July 2009 and returned on 3 August 2009, visiting 9 countries and covering 9,718 km. They spent 626 Euros on diesel, 424 Euros on parking and 308 Euros on road tolls.

The countries they visited were Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Austria. They said the Road in Belarus was good with rest areas every 150 km and the worse were in Poland, where there were lots of villages and speed limits.

I contacted the lady who wrote about their trip to check if is OK that I mention on this site and she said it's fine. I also asked which model they have and it is a 2.0 diesel 170 bhp. She went on to comment that they're very pleased with car and found it comfortable for such a long trip. They also like the boot or hatchback opening.

Is this a record for the mileage covered on a holiday in a Superb II?

You can see the article here but it's all in Russian. A lot of the writing is about the hotels they stayed in and the towns they visited, so I've just picked out a few bits that relate to driving.

lol - Cyrillic fail

Been to Poland a couple of times and I can vouch for the dreadful roads and speed limits,, not to mention the suicidal drivers and police speed traps!!!

EPIC FAIL

I will blow the dust of the enigma and start decrypting it.

We managed 3,800 in the fabia on the euro trip in 08, that was over 10 days, managed closer to 4,500 in 14 days last year but that was in an mx-5

Nice to see others are making long pulls with their furbys as well. Back in '05 I did a road trip with my wife in a furby vrs.. managed to clock 2600 miles in about 12 days. Took the back seats out so I could get all the necessary stuff in. We went to Nordkapp, so literarily to the end of the world.

Though it was good times with the gokart like furby, I'm quite sure I'd now rather enjoy it with a Superb II. Time has taken it's toll, comfort is starting to weight in more and more.. even the current octy II vrs tends to feel quite harsh at times.

The list for next possible cars definately has both Yeti and Superb II in it..

PS. sorry for going OT :)

Can't resist a slight diversion - in 2002 did Venice to Romford (exactly 1000miles) in a straight 13 hours including one quick fuel stop, 1 quick eat/refuel, and Eurotunnel with no waiting at all (luckily must have been last car on). Fully laden Toyota Carina GTi (the 170hp version), which could cruise at 120mph in Italy, and with one bored passenger. Now older and wiser and probably too much traffic to repeat with my CR170 Superb.

Definitely getting itchy feet again

I have had a couple of outings recently with four adults in the Superb and a full to the brim boot (Costco shopping) and the journey was amazingly effortless and the temptation to plan a long haul grows greater all the time. Amazing car.
