engine light on again and again

Featured Replies

Hi all once again my engine light has come on and this car ias doing my head in so much it had ruined my experience of owning this car.

Ihave replaced lots of parts on it including four new coil packs yet it keeps lighting up telling me that coil pack c has packed in.

I took the coil pack off and took it back to euro parts told them it was faulty so they replaced it with another new one yet after 2 weeks again the light came on telling me it had gone again.

Can anyone tell me what the f**k is wrong with this car as i am not prepared to keep shelling out cash on this thing for it to keep coming on every 2 weeks.

Also can anyone tell me which way the coil packs are counted please is it 1 to 4 form the drivers side or 1 to 4 from the passenger side any help would be great as i cant take much more of it.

are you replacing them with genuine parts???

Number one cylinder is the one at the timing belt end.

Might be worth having a good look at the connectors to make sure you are getting a good contact ( several weeks ago someone posted pictures on here of a coil pack fire which looked like it may have been started by a bad contact at the connector).

Failing that have a good look at the wiring loom.

I replaced them with new parts from euro parts not main dealer but they are made for my car.

firstly apoligies for the vaugeness of the answer (and the spelling).

i ahad a similer problem and when i took it to the skoda dealer (germany) he said it was a sensor that was causing the problem (as well as my MPG going down)

they changed it and i never had any more problems.

hope this helps if not , ahh well and good luck

Did you change your spark plugs? What brand? did you gaped them right?

There where several cases that bad plugs damaged new coils.

Or this could be just a case of a bad wiring.

I strongly suggest that you buy genuine coil packs and replace all four.

That was mine - one new coil pack and connector and some wire connectors and its running fine - no fault codes. Not sure what actually caused it as there wasn't much left to look at! Could have been a loose wire or the coil itself? There was no engine light or warning.

The only mistake I made was to say "oh just fix that split hose as well while you've got it" to the garage (I didn't have time to do it myself) - :o

I did originally change all four thinking that these would be fine on my car as they reckon they are made for it so looks like main dealer it is thanks.
