Unless your car cd player has mp3 playback then you will need to convert your songs back to cdda format.

To keep the OEM head unit but get mp3 comparability you'll need an CD changer interface adapter. That'll let you connect an MP3 player or, if you like you can get more expensive versions that let you control an iPod from the head unit buttons.

most popular manufacturer of both of these interfaces is connects2, eBay also has some interfaces that take a memory card with your mp3's, but again work through the CD changer port.
