vat offer to end

Featured Replies

VAT offer extended till June 30th. I saw an ad in the paper today saying that , and using a facelift Fab in the Ad as well!

went into my local dealer today and the vat free offer isn't as good as it sounds.

you'll probably get some discount anyway so i've decided to stick with my current car which is like new.

either way you will be losing a lot of money, and they don't give you a better p/x value if your car has any added extras.

edit: they'll also add delivery on top which i think is £500

Well I have a 10 year old MPI Comfort , fair enough its only got 48K on the clock and its mint but its still probably only worth a grand as a trade in. I could use the Swappage scheme and get £2K for it , I would need to see how much I would save with the VAT offer as it VAT off your options as well (and i want , if availible , Sunset Glass , White Roof , Sport Suspension , 17 inch wheels , ESP , mp3 interface and maybe Met paint , on a 1.2 105 TSI Elegance) I might save more than the extra £1000 I would save with swappage.

I don't understand what you're saying? Are you talking specifically about your case where you have a fairly new car anyway and are losing on the p/ex value compared to what you paid new?

Theres no delivery charge on my invoice?

The delivery charge is included in the on the road price ;)

VAT free offer is indeed extended until the end of June and 0% finance is available on the Elegance and Scout

VAT free price list: http://www.skoda.co.uk/pdf/tax-free-skoda-april.pdf

Nice , £1800 odd off the model I'm interested in , , is tha VAT still being taken off any factory fitted options ordered with the car? If so this would save me over £2000 on the car I'm looking at , which would be a great help to me.

Have to ask your friendly local Skoda dealer.

To be honest, I'm very surprised they've extended this deal on the facelift cars, makes them very good value indeed. A good time to buy, and you could get 0% finance if you wanted/needed it.

If you check the prices before and after VAT here http://www.skoda.co.uk/pdf/tax-free-skoda-april.pdf, the non-VAT items amount to £555. This charge is included in both OTR figures. e.g. for the Elegance 1.2tsi:

£13,850 - £1,980.11/0.175*1.175 = £555.00

This works out the same for all the prices except the top one (S 1.2 6V 60bhp), which is £16.38 out. I think Skoda have got the figures wrong for this.

The £555 is the delivery charge,Road Tax /ShowroomTax and the vehicle registration charge - not included in the VAT figures - methinks

Ive just looked on the SUK website and yes , the VAT is taken off the full price of the car with all your factory fit options - dealer fit options I think you still need to pay the VAT on though.

That's right - a £555 charge, not subject to VAT, is included in both the OTR prices. This is clear from the figures because the saving is not 17.5% of the total quoted price.

Ive just specced up a Fabia via the PDF Brochure , and then priced it up and , I think the VAT free offer makes a great case for me to order a brand new TSI Elegance. 'My' Fabia FL spec - Fabia Elegance TSI 105PS , Corrida Red , White Roof , Sunset Glass , Sport Suspension , 16" 'Elba' Alloys , 4 Spoke MFSW (Radio only) and Small leather pack , MDI Interface and ESP plus with a VAT free OTR price of £11795.75 , a saving of £2064.23 before haggling! I reckon that is a hell of a car for the money.

I don't follow your figures.

Elegance TSI 105 (without DSG):

Basic price: £10,719.15

VAT: £1,875.85

Delivery etc: £555.00

OTR: £13,150

Accessories:

White roof: £355.00

Sunset glass: £160.00

Sport suspension: £95.00

Elba alloys: £0.00

4 spoke MFSW: £40.00

MDI: £155.00

ESP+: £460.00

Total accessories: £1,265.00

Total before discount: £14,415.00

Less Vat: -£1,875.85 (on basic only)

Total: £12,539.15

I think you are allowing for VAT off the accessories, but the numbers still don't add up to me.

Being a sad person, I have put all the models and prices into an Excel spreadsheet (anyone interested?) so I can spec my own car, which is similar to your spec. I get to just under £10K allowing for a trade-in on my Fabia Mk.1 2.0i,

Corrida red isnt metallic paint though , so you can take £410 off the final figure you got. I may have forgot to add the delivery cost on there , but yes I did take the VAT off the car and factory fit accessories.

Here are the VAT free prices I used , and yes I didnt add delivery!!

Car £10719.15

MDI £131.91

Sport Suspension £80.85

White Roof £302.13

4 Spoke MFSW £34.04

16" Elbas - FOC

ESP + £391.49

Sunset Glass , £136.17

Total £11795.74 , plus £457 delivery (assuming you get the VAT back off the £555 delivery cost also , is this the case??) gives me the figure of £12253.61 (£12350.74 if delivery is not VAT free) not what i quoted earlier , as as you suspected , I did not add deilvery costs. Oops!!

Anyways , i still think its a good buy at that price compared to the cars Im comparing against (Swift Sport , Colt Ralliart , Twingo 133 , Polo Moda 1.2 AC , SEAT Ibiza SC 1.4 Sport. I also have a Mk1 Fabia to trade in , I suspect its worth about £1000 though as its on a V plate and only a 1.4 Comfort (AC) 48K on the clock.

I just noticed that and removed it. I am going for the DSG version so I get ESP. I don't see a need for ESP+ and I will get the TPM separately.

I could also go this route really , as I dont really care about TPM , so maybe basic ESP would be a better bet.

The ESP+ helps with hill starts - but I don't need that. I am already over the hill! I have never used a DSG box though, so I have no idea if I will like it.

Ahh HHC = Hill hold control? I dont need that either as I can use the clutch pedal just fine , so I guess basic ESP plus ASR will do me. I have absolutely nothing in the Fabia I have now , not even ABS , let alone any sort of ESP/Traction control.

The VAT free on the road price (ie. including delivery) for a standard Elegance hatch 1.2TSI-105 is £11,274.15 according to this: http://www.skoda.co.uk/pdf/tax-free-skoda-april.pdf

I'd just add the "basic" cost (ie. before VAT) price from the left hand column of the options prices from the facelift brochure to get the total?: http://www.skoda.co.uk/pdf/brochure_fabia.pdf

Then do the haggling over the p/ex value for your old Fabias? :)

Look at the terms closely:DON'T FORGET THE SMALL PRINT

*VAT reduction available on all Fabia models. Reduction applied to the RRP including factory fitted optional extras and is equivalent to the VAT applicable at the time. VAT is still applicable and will be shown on the customers invoice.
