vat offer to end

Featured Replies

just a quick post to say ive just herd a advert to say the skoda vat off offer will end march 31st. Sorry if this is common info.

ben

Tenner says it doesn't.

I hope you are right (that it does not end)? What makes you so sure that you would risk a tenner?

Because they're always saying it will end, it gets to the end of the month and wow, shock, it's extended again. It's having too positive an effect on sales to end it yet. Will you take my bet? I'll take payment by pay pal. In fact, make it £100.

Might be something to it though as the facelift starts production at the beginning of April.

Maybe VAT off the pre-facelift models still or other heavy discounts to clear the old ones?

The VAT offer that is on just now applies to face lifted Fabia's and Roomster's as well.

It does indeed - thats how/why i ordered mine.

OK - I'm going to ask my local dealer tomorrow and hope to order a new facelifted Roomster by the end of the month...

Its highly unlikely that any manufacturer would increase their selling price by 17.5% overnight. The effect on sales would be disastrous.

Haha tell that to Ford, upto 30% price increases. Agree that some form of offer will continue on the Fabia may be 0% finance if the VAT offer ends or extra equipment.

There's a difference between list price and what peope actually pay though isn't there?

I would imagine there is more scope for discounting the "full fat" prices than the VAT free ones.

I would be amazed if they do continue the VAT free offer for much longer, otherwise those Fabia/Roomster facelifts will be a huge bargain!

Tell me about it, Ford are just going to price themselves out of the company car market too, I would think it's just the same price now for the VW Golf GT than a 140hp Focus? I know which one I'd choose.

Skoda would be silly to end the offers now.

It wasn't done in one go, but 3 or 4 rises. Ford did it to profit from the scrappage scheme - they did not approach it in the spirit intended. They just abused their market position and treated scrappage custumers as suckers.

If you dont have a scrapper, you will find Ford discounting heavily.

e.g. Basic Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec 3dr - List £18279  DTD price £10942

40% discount (inc VAT) -- 50% if you do it the dealers way (not including VAT)

I hate these VAT FREE deals, Skoda are just giving you the discount off list that most dealers would give you anyway, the dealers must love this. Skoda must be taking their usual dealer price deduction from list and the nature of the deal brings in more customers while they still make their usual price on a sale.

Do people actually pay full list price for cars these days?

A mates brother had to pay full price for his Audi Q5, got nothing thrown in at all. I couldnt get anymore off the VAT discounted Fabia despite really hard barganing and the walking away trick! Youll get a healthy discount off of some makes/models but not all.

You went to the wrong dealer then!

I got a nice deduction, extra's AND 20% off service and parts.

He never heard of drivethedeal or broadspeed?

My local dealer told me the VAT free offer will end, so if you walked into the show room on 1 April, this Thursday, you'll be paying the VAT. Plus the VAT free is on the optional extras as well.

But i wonder whether you can get a discount big enough to not order by the deadline.

I would imagine Skoda UK should release a new brochure for the Fabia facelift at the beginning of the month and then it should appear on Drivethedeal.com e.t.c. shortly after that, then we can see what discounts are available :)

we shall see. Im desperate to see a full spec sheet.

I'm also looking forward to skoda releasing details to the insurance companies so i can hopefully watch my premium tumble.

I think the 1.2tsi 105 on the yeti is group 3, i can't imagine it will be lower than group 3 on the fabia. (edit: because the 1.2 70bhp is group 2)

i know you'll need to let the insurance company know about change of car details, but if you don't have a definate pick up/drive away date, what you're gonna do?

I doubt very much the offer will end, another poster in the Octavia section said his dealer had stated that the VAT free offer will definitely be extended. The swappage scheme strongly suggests that a discount offer will be available - it may be called something else as they may be nervous of VAT rises in the near future (post general election)

DTD offer prices well below the VAT free offer.

Notice that Ford have just slashed RRP prices on their big cars? - those price rises last year were just a ploy to screw the scrappage acheme.

i just had a look at the thread in the octavia II section. It seems different dealers tell you different things. I went into two dealers who both told me the offer will end at the end of the month...

Should I wait til the new financial year and hope the offer (or an alternative offer at least the same or better than VAT free) is still on/

Well take it on the skoda 7 days free insurance then start to panic after that :)

VAT offer extended till June 30th. I saw an ad in the paper today saying that , and using a facelift Fab in the Ad as well!
