Hi just started hearing a strange knocking noise comming from passanger frontside wheel on my fabia vrs 54. Only happens when i turn right not on full lock but nearly there. its more of a prang sound ie when you catch a big stone right on the edge of your tyre, Or a heavy duty spring catching then releasing. Sorry about the noise descriptions people, just trying to explain. Any ideas??

I'd have said for the age its possibly your anti-roll bar bushes dying, mine is the same age and I've JUST started to get similar noises myself, though I wouldn't describe the noise as a spring-type noise, just a blunt 'thud' every now and then.

On the other hand it could be something a bit more substantial like the main strut spring 'winding up' and suddenly releasing as you turn the wheels!

Hopefully its the former, as its easily sorted with some poly bushes.

Anyone else with more ideas?

Unfortuantly its not a loud thud of a noise. sounds a bit like what you were describing about the main strut spring mmm this could be fun!!!

Welcome to my world... been living with similar clonks for over 12 months now and spent more than i wish to disclose :(

I've heard it can be the strut insert that needs tightening. Mine does it best way I can describe it is a really worn track rod end. I'm doing the oil etc on mine in about a week so I'm going to check the insert is nipped. I'll keep you posted.
