stage 2 upgrade prices

What sort of prices are you guys getting charged to go from stage 1 to stage 2?

being new to the Skoda tuning game, what's stage 2? Assuming stage 1 is a remap and a filter change.

Stage 2 typically involves a Turbo-back exhaust although some will get away with just a downpipe and cat.

Anything else you wish to add will bring added benfits. :)

And Stage one is just a remap.

I have been quoted an extra £150 for the stage 2 software, not sure how this fares.

Reasonable-ish.

Bluefin is an additional £50 so long as you've forked out for stage 1, I think Revo is the same.

Might be worth speaking to Sharkey-Ben, his stage 2 is quick to say the least.

I wouldn't go with shark because i like to know who makes the maps and i don't think Ben would tell us. Also i only paid £150 for the stage one map through an old forum discount so i suppose another £150 ain't bad.

Do you know who makes REVO Maps? I certainly don't know the name of the person who writes the code and i have their Stage 2+ Map.

For all we know REVO could be paying someone who writes software for a number of companies.

Unless Ben starts to actually write the maps himself then i doubt he would tell anybody anyway and more to the point why does he need to.

From what i have read, from a no. of people on here and other forums that use the Shark Performance maps, they say they are very good so don't be so quick to discount something just because you don't know everything about it.

Hold on there!

I certainly aren't saying Bens maps are anything but good for the mk2 at least. Its just my preference to know who or what company makes the map.

Bens mapper was at the Autosports show so he's not quite some faceless person from the interwebs.

I didn't get a chance to speak to him personally as he was already speaking to others.

Thanks for the info. I am also assuminghowever your responses are in relation to a petrol vrs and not a tdi vrs like mine ?

Yes we refer to the petrol Tfsi

We (i.e. Shark Performance) write our own maps, it's me and another guy.

If you'd like to see my entire business plan I'd be more than happy to show it to everyone? I mean, it appears that's what it'll take to earn trust on this forum?

The reviews from your customers (even the time wasting potential's like me) and even the replies to this thread should tell you otherwise Ben.

What would it take to convert you Martin?

Well I'm looking for a free stage 2 map lol...only joking :p

Nothing mate I have heard some very happy people on here with your map. I thought you bought your maps in because you said you could choose from many different companies. My main point is when I want a map I like to do a lot of research which involves trawling through google pages, obviously I cannot do that if you bought the maps in from various different places, I cannot compare them.

As you seem to be giving Ben an unnecessarily hard time here what were the deciding factors for choosing DNA over others - the price?

Once upon a time that was true but only for a short time. Things have changed tremendously since then and Shark Performance needs to be considered as a brand in it's own right :)

I can vouch Shark Performance maps are not generic maps as I've had a custom map for my Passat

to be fair, even if they were bought in stock maps, they are some pretty good maps. The Stage 1 maps are far better than Revo, Codered, Superchips/Bluefin offerings (IMO and I have tried them all). It gives you a much more usable car and torque delivery is a lot smoother which to me is important in a front wheel drive car such as the vRS. Most companies you get a generic map anyway, If you go to a Revo or Superchips dealer, theres very few that can tweak you the map there and then.

The Stage 2 map pulls like a train and never fails to plant a stupid grin on my face when I put my footdown :)

Must admit though, it would be interesting to do a direct comparison with some of the competetion

Edit: Would be interesting, not wouldnt lol

I'm not giving Ben a hard time it's just my reasons that's all, sorry if my preference has offended it wasn't my intension.

The reason I chose DNA was in part due to price but also because I had it on my MK1 Octy Vrs. When i got my mk1 mapped I choose a company who used a file supplier called Diga-tec. The car used to surge, boost spike and was low on power. I put up with this for a few months thinking it was my car that was the problem but also told my mapper whose response was to try another map form the same company with less boost which i didn't want cause it was already slow.

A few month later he emailed me saying he had a new supplier whose map was a lot better and put it on FOC for me. The difference was massive! no more surging and much more power. So basically that's why I chose DNA.

If you were worried about surging boost etc. I had my stage 1 map done by Ben at Shark Performance. I too had never heard of him prior to getting it done. I read remarks made by other people in the forum and took the plunge. Check the link. It is a near perfect map and I would not even pause to recommend anyone have a Shark Map installed. I have been in Bens VRS with Stage 2+ and its just the same! Awesome!

Looks live I started a war on here, not bad considering I'm barely over 10 posts !!!!

I've always been a bit of a boy racer/tuner or whatever you want to call me. Previous car was an Impreza with a little over 400bhp but had to give it up before I got banned (again8-() or killed myself. Had it for 3 happy years mind you.

Anyway, I would be more than happy to get a remap done by Mark as I've read reviews and forum responses galore and haven't found a bad word about him or his maps. Only problem for me is that I'm away up in Edinburgh so will need to put some serious miles in to get it done. Also, covering the distance to and from Bens without the wife finding out could be an issue !

Don't see the problem

Enter stage left, Ben's STS unit - maps by mail emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Same principle as Bluefin, Chipped UK etc.

Nice one Brimma, point well proven.

I am considering the self tuning system but need convincing on it's abilities. Is it ever going to be as good as getting Ben to tune the car himself ? I want to get away from having a generic map, would rather pay extra for someone who knew what they were doing.
