Dashboard Lights

Hi All,

It seems as allways the Briskoda is again the fountain of all knowledge when things go wrong. After buying a new car the Skoda was left to the road side for some time while i enjoyed the fun of the new. On comming back to the car i found the battery was dead, almost turned a few times but then only clicking.

I decided then that the booster pack may have had enough charge in it to help turn the car over only to be dissapointed.....

On buying a charger the Battery got upto approx 75% of what the charger was saying Full and back out io went to the Car and Yippie it started first time. On finding this i left the car with the thought it was only a dead battery and the issue had been resolved.

Today i decided to resorect the Skoda to reduce the annual miles on the new car and it is more fun than the Metro (wifes car). I received a few bings and warning lights today.

Skoda Octavia TDI 2ltr (2007)

Steering wheel (yellow)

Engin management (yellow)

ABS (Yellow)

Park light (flashing Red)

On the quick 30 min drive i thought might top the batter up and resolve the issue i noticed that the Speedo was not working either. Noting that the car is still within warrenty i decided to call Skoda Direct to have an engineer look at it before the end of the warrenty. The RAC man arrived tutted a few times and began looking around. He checked Fuses and reset the onboard battery by clamping the + & - together then ran a few tests on his tough book. i noticed some communication errors with his machine and the code P0600 that on searching has only shown up negative control module errors.....

Now the car Starts > Stops > Turns and accelerates without issue.

Is this going to brake the bank to resolve ?? i did notice the tech support guy laughing on the phone with the RAC guy about killing the car...

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance...

The Dashboard lights/speedo not working combo has been reported on this forum as pointing to 2 faults.

The first is the ABS Module and the second is a duff battery, fingers crossed its the latter, its several hundred quid cheaper.

Surely if it's under warranty you should be home free :D

You really need to have the faults read and probably a few things reset. Control modules don't often lose their coding but starting with a jump pack can spike things, it has been known.

Where are you located?

Just Been to the Garage and come back with a huge smile on my Face

He has told me it is the ABS module and he will try to get one on a next day delivery and have it installed Friday/Monday all under Warrenty (6 weeks left on it)

Excelent Service from the guys at Preston Garages, Chelmsford.... 2nd time i have used them and both times good service.

The question now is do i extend the warrenty on the car once the 3 years is up?
