Wiper Blades

Featured Replies

Right I need new Blades for the front windscreen, do I go to Dealers or pop into Halfords, and are they easy to fit.

id say go to halfords tbh will be cheaper than main dealer, not that hard to fit either

TPS prices for genuine (made by Valeo) are around £11 a set inc VAT BUT the last two sets (one set I had changed FOC) have been p*** poor quality, so I won't be buying them again! Bosch sets I find are the best - I have had a set on my Octavia for over 16 months and are still okay - they were about £15 a set from Eurocarparts.

I got some nice retrofit aero wipers by bosch from eurocarparts - £22 bargain!

Personally i'd buy the standard bosch blades with spoiler. Had aeros a couple of times and the difference has seemed minimal at best. I clean my blades once a week/fortnight as they have a hard life on the country roads i drive down, and the standard ones also seem to last a little longer

Eurocarparts, Bosch ones. £4 each.

Bargain of the centuary

I fitted the Bosch ones a few weeks ago. It was about the limit of my technical ability but I mananged it in less than an hour......... Seriously, it's dead easy.

I got mine from Halfrauds but they weren't cheap. I only went there as I had a voucher that needed using.........

I'd recommend a glass treatment too... halfords own one is pretty good, currently using up a bottle of rain-x and have been impressed. Could get the wipers from euro car parts, and some treatment for probably less than halfords charge for just the blades

Make sure the passenger side blade is curved otherwise it will leave a streak of water in the eye line on the drivers side of the windscreen.

If you or someone you know is an engineer or mechanic you/they are entitled to a Halfords trade card, which will get you a 50% (or thereabouts) discount on Bosch blades, plus most other parts and tools. I think I paid about £10 for the front pair ;)
