New Fabia owner, PAS not working, fault codes to read :D

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I bought a fabia that had had a front end ding, the bumper had been off, and I think a monkey put it back on as neither fog lights work (suggest not connected) and PAS not working so:

Basically a bloke on here (Ian - awesome guy!) checked out my fault codes as my power steering isnt working (light on while on ignition and on while driving, steering always heavy (no whine))

And this was the "list"..

He cleared the faults but two codes that stuck were the code for power steering, and for 00818 - Sensor for Evaporator Outlet Temperature (G263) .

Do you guys know if this could be the sensor, or the pump? If i was to check the wiring, whats the best way to get to all the connections for the PAS?

Many thanks :D

Yeah it mentions check sensor, but its not really explicit as it leaves it open to being the pump...

Anyone else?

I was thinking, there is a listing on ebay for LHD sensors, I could add a length of wireinbetween to make it long enough to run to the RHS of the car - anyone else done this~?

EDIT:

Also, where would i get a pump from, main dealer is around 130 apparantly, so is there a patent part suppler? What part number woud I be looking for?

Ok so I read at various sources that if you unplug the angle sensor, the power steering goes to default backup mode and will run at least to a certain degree..

I did this and nothing happened, so can I presume that the pump is dead?

The sensor thats in the steering colum is the metal type (updated..) so that maybe suggests its already been changed? and that the pump is the cause?

Many thanks.. Nick
