fabia vrs front brakes stinking and sticking

Featured Replies

Hi guys

last year I had smoke coming out of the wheels from the brakes i had loss of power but the AA couldn't find anything wrong with the brakes he said to get a garage to look at it, the garage found the brakes had locked on.

the garage had replaced the calipers and the pads,

the discs were changed and the fluid was changed as well

but now i'm getting bad feedback though the steering wheel and the brakes stink

has anyone had the same problems

the garage think it may be the brake hoses

please help

Hi William

When you jack up the wheel (s) are the wheels free to move or are they stiff

Hi Again

When you say you are getting bad feedback through the steering ! What are the symptoms ?

Radiotwo

could be the flexi pipes, but i've never heard of it happening on such a new car, another thing to check would be the brake light switch, this maybe holding the pedal down, but i would think you'd have noticed if the brake lights were on all the time

or another thing, the caliper slides are seized, but you say the garage fitted new calipers

I've known a faulty brake servo on a Fabia to cause similar symptoms.

the feedback in the steering it's like shaking the car from side to side, not so much that the car is going from one to another but you can see the steering wheel shaking about

Hi Again

It is hard to say with out seeing it, but could be bearings or may be CV !

again jack up and check the CV boot to see if it is intact, and while lifted (if you have axle stands, use them) put one hand at the bottom and the other at the top, and try and shake the wheel

in and out and see if there is any play in the bearing .

but sound serious, so I would take it to a dealer to check out
