RS 1.4TSI Engine Tuning Options

Featured Replies

From what I've seen on SCN the standard 180ps engine is already pushing the factory limits of what torque the gearbox can take. Would be interesting to see how tunable the 1.2 is though. I believe it will be available with the same gearbox?

Yeh im interested in the tuning options of the 1.2

Don't idle it on the driveway

Not meaning to deviate on the original topic, but can I ask, how is this damaging to an engine?

I dont think it is damaging as such , it just wastes fuel , driving away as soon as possible helps the car and its fluids warm up a lot quicker , and helps your fuel consumption.

Precisely about the financial side of things!

I have a vRS mark 1 and would never have considered 'remapping' or 'chipping' it. In my opinion, a car is designed for the specification intended, any modifications to the power output etc. will give you short term fun but will inevitably lead to a shorter engine life.

you have made you own point there..........your opinion, again if we were all the same what a dull boring world we would live in.

Each to their own in life you you want to re-map go for it if you dont and think its a waste of money etc then by all means have that view.

My Mark 1 vrs has 95k on the clock been remapped from 14k and is still on its original clutch. Runs just the same as it did when it was first remapped..........on general use the re-map will not shorten the life, if however you charge around like a c*ck all the time it will...................but then if you drive like a c*ck you kinda get what you deserve!

Anyway back to the question of the OP, I would have thought taking a look at the ibiza would be a good start to see what is possible, though its interesting to see how much the wee 1.4 can chuck out
