Bass Trunk / Boot Rattle

Featured Replies

Hey guys!!

I couldn't find this anywhere on the forum or google! So I thought best to ask the experts =) I got a new 12" single bass system fitted into the boot of my car the other day. All's fine and dandy on the inside, superb sound etc. But then one day I left the music on and got out of the car and notice that the turnk was rattling because of the bass (just the right hand side of the trunk).

I googled it, and they talked about tail lights etc beging loose. But as ar as i can say, they dont make any noise and are quite securly in place. I then decided to fold the back seats and have a look at the trunk from the inside and from what I could make out the sound seems to be comming from the left hand side (from where the latch is) of the trunk and just there. Even though the Bass system is on the opp side.

Anyone had similar problems and know how to stop it?

I might be completly wrong! so if you have other suggestions please do let me know!

Would it be because the FAbia's boot is too small? When I folded the seats the noise seemd to have reduced from the outside (but I didn't check this out properly)

Thanks!

You're putting something in the boot that purposely creates a vibration and now questioning why things are vibrating? lol

Kev

Stop it? take the sub out

Reduce the rattle? Sound deadening

LOOOL this actually made me laugh out loud!! I'm going to use this line sometime =P

I might try sound deading! Thanks!

On my old system my window winders used too fall off now and then.

Sound deadening is what your after, gives you more of a thud and less rattle

Could be the rubber flappy vent behind the bumper. Although that makes more of a farty noise :giggle:

My car came back from the bodyshop after a rear end smash recently.

Before the smash I'm pretty sure the exhaust shrouding / heat guard was vibrating and rattling.. worth a poke.

After the repair (new back panel and pulled out boot floor, new bumper, polished boot lid, new back box & tip) the exhaust no longer rattles but now it's really obvious that when they stripped the boot trim they didn't bother rescuing any of the metal clips that hold the inner panel on that stayed in the hole.. these rattle like a b!tch over bumps.. I suspect you may have the same issue? Maybe a pipe popped or motor packed in on the boot lid at some point and the trims been off and not re-fitted correctly..
