lol, true. Took a day or two for the fog of impending £1500 bill to clear.

I just was determined to make sure you called someone other than skoda to get a second opinion. I think it was some sort of mutual bond at facing a £1500 ecu bill. I dodged mine through luck and a weird Audi Finance/dealership exended warranty type thing.

Glad it's all okay now.

Just got the same error, thanks to this thread I'm going to update the ECU tomorrow, does anyone know if my car will need to get remaped again after the update?

Thanks.

Yes, the ECU update will overwrite your remap and give it a new part number and software number, so your tuner will have to apply a different map.

Excellent stuff, I like a story with a happy ending - particularly as this could happen to my car!

Big issue is that if you don't tell the stealers that there is a software update, They will probably tell you the ECU needs to be replaced (This is what they told me initially)

Seems they have this issue happening with the roomster and there is no software update for that, only repaceing the unit solves it there.

I guess because they see it somewhere else they automatically assume it’s the same issue and tell you to replace the ECU especially in Israel where we have about 20 VRS’s and there isn’t a whole lot of experience with this Model.

Apologies if revisiting this old thread is bad form, but a very related topic and hoping for some advice (& a cheaper solution)

Octavia vRs Petrol, 2006. Driving up the motorway sudden loss of all power. Hasn;t been remapped.

Has been in the garage I haven;t had passed dealings as a long way from home where it broke down (know their stuff about diagnostics i;m assured and in all dealings seem very good and professional).

Problem found to be that two of the fuel injectors aren;t receiving power. Manual checks on injectors all clear. They have been through wiring diagrams etc. meticulously. Coudln't send ECU off to be tested as this Bosch one has an "S" in its number (I am a bit vague on details here) so testing it would knacker it - mechanic told this by multiple specialist ECU companies. However after a lot of thorough checking result is this has come back I need an new ECU. Prices as above. Garage offered to transport it to nearest Skoda garage to get re-checked and work done. Guy has spent a long time looking for alternatives to this, so not just a palm off as too complex.

Basically hoping against hope that there is a cheaper way of resolving the issue. Anybody know anything about this? Any similar problems or possible solutions.

Massive thanks in advance and anticipation.

Your case sounds different to that of the above, if you do therefore need an ECU then it's worth calling us as we have them on the shelf and can have you back up and running in no time, at much less of a cost!

Our number is 01623 332233.
