oz super t gt's refurb part 2!

Featured Replies

As some of you know last year before japfest Emma bought a mashed set of oz super t gt's off ebay,to refresh some memorys, and give some of the new members on here a small idea of just how talented this woman is with a spray gun, hear are a couple of pics from last years thread.

as they were

as you can see they were in a pretty sorry state,Emma decided that she wanted these wheels on in time for japfest......about 7 days before the show,so the hard work began,i sourced the new tyres, and emma got to work, sanding, filling and priming

Photo0113.jpg

all the wheels were then after repair fully primed up and shot with 3 coats of nice gloss black, then 2 coats of laquer

the tyres were fitted on friday afternoon and the car shown like this on saturday,it took some doing i tell you.

Anyway on to the present day, thing is alltho everyone who saw the wheels said they were awesome, they were certainly much better than the efforts of 90% of wheel re furbers that i had ever seen,Emma was never properly happy with them, she says they were rushed for the show, and they were not the right colour of black either,so after moaning for nearly a year about them i took them off the car the other weekend and told her to get the paint!!! So the re furb part 2 begins, this time Emma got all the paint and primer, and also the 000000 grit sandpaper to enable her to wetsand the final coat, the paint is vw black magic pearl, which has slight sparkles in it when the light hits it.

Anyway Emma sanded the wheels down, prepped them for primer and shot the first coat of primer on the first wheel

after sanding again the first coat of black was applied then wet sanded again to remove any other imperfections,8 straight coats of black magic were then applied, then lightly wetsanded to remove any imperfections, this is the point she is at now,1 week to do 1 wheel, but i **** you not it is perfect!!!!

this wheel still needs a final wetsand and lacquer but the depth of shine is allready unreal!!!

All i can say are the skills of this women blow me away completly, these wheels are going to be epic!!!!

can anyone see the pics?

Yep. They look pretty good to me. I don't have the patience or time any more to do that, it's a real labour of love. Credit to you both. One of my colleagues has the Swift Sport and those would suit hers very well.

they would if they would fit, strangley the 1.3/1.5 swifts are 4x100 and the sports are 5x114.3 which is a little strange!!!!

That's a bit odd. I guess that Suzuki know what they're doing. Whatever, nice wheels. :)

Stunning work. Does she fancy doing mine?

They would look ace on our Swift !!

Great job by Emma though, top marks :)

WOW, looks spot on. I`d love to have the time to do something like that, when they are finished theres noting like looking and thinking "i done that"

Whos Emma?

mrs oilburninnut!!!!!!!!!

Awesome bit of 'furbing, but then how much time is Mrs 'nut spending on these in total, then think about it only costing £50 a wheel at a refurber. :D Sounds like a labour of love to me.

I need to think about doing something simliar on the white wheel I mucked up the other day. I am thinking about sanding down the actual 2 or 3 spokes affected, masking off, and applying a simliar principle with white paint / wet sanding, to bring them back to life again.

she is spending unreal amounts of time on them tbh,but shes doing it because not one refurber whos work we have seen matched what she was looking for,she wanted perfection and a depth of shine which needs 000's of hours of wetsanding with 8 million grade sandpaper!!!!!! a 50 quid refurb this is not,its cost 60 quid to do 2 wheels so far!!!!! and they are not laquered yet

haha! Fair play to her. Having met Mrs 'nut a couple of times I never thought she'd be the type to get stuck in to something like this. Not sure why and it's probably (definitely) not right that I thought that way (only a girlie :D)

I am hoping a bit of painting / wet sanding with 2000 grade / lacquering will make my wheel damage much less obvious.
