Brake Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hello just after a little help, I've currently got standard brakes all round and am getting very bored of brake fade which seems to happen alot. I've been doing loads of research on here and ukmkivs and feel i have a few options. I hear the Ferodo DS2500 ( Part Number - FCP590H ) front pads are really really good and from what i've read seem to be the best. I've also been looking at Black Diamond and EBC turbo grooved discs but am wondering if just pads will dod the trick? Also what are the cheaper ebay grooved discs like? Anyone know if there any good or just likely to warp?

Thanks for any help :)

Drilled and grooved discs won't make much difference. If anything grooved help deglaze pads but something like redstuff pads or the minted 1144 range would give you a decent improvement.

If you're on track or are quite heavy on the fast road braking then EBC yellow stuff pads have improved massively in the last year.

Also consider changing your brake fluid to a higher dot rating to avoid it boiling and replace the standard rubber brake lines with decent braided ones for a tighter pedal feel

ds2500 are about the best on the market at the moment for fast road use

coupled with some ebc discs with eliptical grooves from badger 5 you cant go wrong

standard brakes are pants lol

DS2500 pads, standard OEM discs and some 5.1 brake fluid.

Drilled or grooved discs only dissipate the heat more so don't make that much of a difference for road driving unless you thrash it all the time.

The above should give a bit of an improvement over the standard setup but really if you want good brakes you have to go up to bigger calipers.

Running ebc turbo grooves with ebc redstuffs for the last 3k. The disks deglaze the pads, square them up etc and the dimples help to degas the pad when breaking but with modern pads this isnt so much of a problem. Only snag for everyday driving is the pads like to be hot before they really bite. Hardly any dust onto the wheel is an added bonus when it comes to scrubbing time. Drilled disks are prone to fatigue, hairline cracks appearing etc. The choice is yours. I will be changing to 996 turbo 4 pot rear calipers for the front of mine once I have overhauled the calipers and will try a different type of pads then. This route means I can keep the 312mm disks as they are man enough for the job.

Save up and get same real brakes. Lambo 4 pots here. Can be got for under £500.

Thanks for your posts,

I am defo going for the DS2500 pads and some 5.1 fluid, will give Bill @ Badger 5 a call, as for discs am very tempted by the EBC discs i think it all comes down to how much money i have after i get paid. Will post up once i've had them fitted and let everyone know how much of a difference they made :)

Real brakes, will need a real car first LMFAO ;-) What size disks did you end up with???

330mm disks.
