Tyre Width

Featured Replies

Has anybody run 245 wide tyres on the octy?

Any issues with rubbing (inside or outside edge)? Lowered or standard?

Just wondering as these are only 20mm wider than my standard tyres, and i believe a 8.5 inch alloy goes on ok which is 25mm wider than standard.

These would obviously have a bigger contact area and be able to put down more power and handle better.

there would also adjust my speedo to read closer to gps speed on standard aspect ratio (40) and a better ride with more rubber between road and metal.

18" alloys if anyone is wondering.

I used 18x8 with 235 wide tyres without any problem, they were quiet close to the suspension on the front though.

do you remember the offset you had?

42 I think, or may have been 45.

Handling is not necessarily improved by having a wider tyre; roadholding might be but only if the suspension works with the wider tyre. More rubber in the sidewall could also affect the grip and handling.

Often the optimum wheel/tyre size is not the biggest; however bigger wheels/tyres look so much better :)
