Plastic Flap Underneath Drivers Seat Rail

Featured Replies

There is a flap underneath the front driver side, seat rail, which appears to mask a couple of cables. It looks as if it sort of slides and clips in. Underneath, there is a bit of a box area with a couple of cables. It looks like it's a bit loose as if maybe someone has had a go at it.

What's under there? Why would you remove this part to access the cables?

Just a bit of paranoia, but wondering what is there of interest and why it looks like it might have been got at :)

Its for the ejector seat mod emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Isn't that where the factory-fit bluetooth box usually sits, if installed? If the car's second hand, perhaps the previous owner tried to take it with them?

In a LHD octavia under the co driver seat, there is room for the handsfree kit. Under the drivers seat there is room for the sound system amplifier (AFAIK).

Cables to the seat can be for the airbag, the heated seat and the switch to see if the seat is occupied (although this last item is more for the co driver seat).

Can heated seats be retro fitted if the cabling is already there ?

Assuming it's the one at the front of the seat rail, with the black plastic flap on it then It's the cabling for the seat airbag and no seatbelt warning system.

Don't play with the wires unless the battery is off.

Why would you remove it, well anything that requires removal of the seat would be a good reason.

Also the plastic cover comes lose easily anyway if you catch it with your heel, so I don't think you've got anything to worry about.
