Should I get my car serviced?

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a new Octavia ordered and its build week 16, so expect to get it around mid may.

At the moment I have a 1.9Tdi Lvl 3 Fabia, which I am returning to the finance company under the hand back once 50% paid thing which has been completed this month.

However I need a car to get to work etc, and yesterday it flashed up SERVICE IN 700 MILES or 106 DAYS

also there are only around 1000 miles lef on the clock.

I do around 1100 miles a month, and as im going to be waiting 2 months roughly, I need suggestions on what I should be doing.

I dont want to be paying for a service for no reason, but I also dont want them to not take the car back, or fine me massively,

ASSISTANCE AND ADVICE REQUIRED.

May be best to get this post moved the Fabia section, they're the experts on all things Fabia.

On the opther hand what does the finance companies paperwork say about servicing?

If you are going to do more than 700 miles before handing the car back then you will need to get it serviced, otherwise the finance company will have something to use against you. For them to take the car back it must have been serviced and maintained acording to the manufacturer. Missing a service could mean they will invoice and charge you for them servicing it, as you were in breach of contract.

The clause you are sending your car back is an interesting one. We did the same as we had done double the miles allound in 3 years in 2 1/2 years. So we sent it back under this. You have to rember they put a slight negative on your credit rating. It had 4 kerded wheels a scratch down the side and a dent in the door. We had no come back from this but you must read the small print. This part of the agreement is some thing they have to put on there so they dont like it when you use it.
