Elephant hose mod

Featured Replies

Been reading about it all last night & this morning, just wondering what I actually need, more specifically, as i've read a few things and it's confused me.

I want to vent to atmosphere, but gonna use a coke bottle or soemthing for the time being, until I can afford a catch can (student budget)

Also, if I was to do this, would I need to pierce holes in the coke bottle in order to stop pressure build up?

What mm size bung do I need to block the intake off, and what mm piping do I need/how long will I need it to be?

Many thanks, Chris.

Hmmm it doesnt really have the info that I want

Coke bottle has to be vented with holes to allow pressure release.

I used the rubber end from a valve grinding tool to blank off the intake hole, not sure of size sorry. Some people epoxy a coke bottle cap over the intake vent.

Hose diameter is a tricky one, as the rocker cover vent is fairly large, so ideally hose should be stepped diameter. 25mm Internal stepping down to 16mm internal. Cut a 45 degree angle onto the end that goes into the coke bottle, to prevent any blockage issues.

Bottle will need emptied fairly frequently, as you get condensation build up, although very little oil.

Make sure the hose does not get kinked or blocked. The crankcase pressure will blow oil seals if that happens.
