What options should there be in Maxidot?

Featured Replies

I've had my vRS for a few days now, and yesterday decided to have a look what I could set with maxidot. TBH, I was expecting more especially as maxidot is always mentioned as one of the must-haves, to the point where I'm wondering whether I actually have it!

I can set things like the convenience windows, consumption units....but things I would have expected to set (like the units for the speed on the digital display, which is kph not mph), I can't.

Could someone list what things I should be able to set? If it depends on spec, I have a FL vRS TSI, no options other than leather seats, maxidot (supposedly) and spare wheel.

Also, I don't think the car auto locks when I pull away - in my old car, I could hear it do so and would require the passenger to double pull the door handle to get out. Is this configurable?

Thanks all

Its ALL in the manual

I can't check the manual until tomorrow as I've left it at work, hence I'd appreciate anyone being able to help me out. Also, thought it would be handy for those people looking to buy, to know exactly what they should get.

You do have Maxidot, otherwise you wouldnt have any settings options at all.

The KMH/MPH speed thing has been discussed here before, its not possible to alter this setting. The digital speedo will always read km/h, this is becuase of EU legislation that states that cars sold in the UK must have both KMH and MPH speed display, because the speedo only shows MPH the digital display must show KMH. My superb has a MPH speedo and a KMH display in the maxidot.

What else you can adjust depends on the options fitted to the car.

Brilliant cheers! That's a relief in the sense I have got what I paid for, but a disappointment that there's actually not a lot, if anything, I'd want to change.

Do you know about the doors auto locking when you pull away?

There should be an option to alter that in the settings, although IIRC its called something totally different.

If you go into Maxidot, and select the comfort / convenience setting you should find a heading there as "door open", in this, you can switch on or off the functions for opening a single door, or all doors by one click, and also you can set up automatic closing for speeds above 15km /h.

Hi

We were the same when we got ours.To get to the set up menu from mfd hold the right indicator stalk buttons a or b for longer than 1 to 2 seconds, this should bring up your list of things you can change. then go up or down the menu using your a and b buttons (trip stalk). To change your settings press and hold the button underneath the stalk( ok reset) for about 2 seconds. the kmh thing is true, spoke to the service department about it this week who first reckoned it would take a master technician to change it then they found out it cant be changed after checking with skoda service. A bit annoying but not the end of the world. To autolock the doors go to convenience, door open, automatic and tick on auto lock, it will activate the anti hijacking lock at 15 mph. You should be able to change the time of your lights going/coming home, drl activation, mirrors, winter tyres, rain closing windows, check your service display with time/mileage to next service, activate speed warning, change clock format. Basically just explore going up and down the menu with a and b and setting with the ok reset button under the stalk.

Good luck

Thanks, will give that a whirl.

I tried having a quick look for the manuals online but couldn't find them, so thanks for this!

:thumbup your got it enjoy!!!the manual, in my experience is too vague, use BRISKODA for info and you will end up running rings round the service dept. of your local Skoda dealer.keep them on their toes! gr8!

Just a note re. Auto-lock...on the Golf (Mk5) you do have to do a double pull on the handle to get out. This isn't the same on the Octy, as soon as you remove the key, all doors un-lock. ;)

Depends on your unlock settings, if it's set to auto, then the behaviour is how you describe, I have it set to manual, so I have the double pull on the handle to open the door

As a matter of interest, when were the additional functions added to the Octavia II? Our 06 L&K doesn't half of the above (and I've checked with the handbook that they're not available). Or were they exclusive to some markets? And, finally, can additional functions be added through a software update? Our Octy is going in for its biennial service on Wednesday, so it would be useful to know if there's anything I can/should ask for.

Incidentally, I have been strongly advised by the garage to have the cambelt changed with a "special offer" price of £250 (!). Since the alternative might be a new engine out of warranty I've accepted. But I've never owned another car which needed a new cambelt every 4 years (and it's only done 27,000 miles since new). Have other Briskodians decided to run the risk, and what were the results?

The additional functions came with modellyear 2007 (should be in the cars from sept 2006 on). The additional functions can be coded by the dealer or by someone who has VCDS (VAG-COM).

They might be added by an update, but not by software. When, than it would be changing one (or more) of the modules in the CAN BUS.

Dont know whether our bread and butter engines need a cambelt change within a limited time (like a ferrari.....) But mileagewise your still a long way till the official interval is reached.

I will wait untill the official mileage is reached (they upped it to 150000km for the diesels since modellyear 07). But my car is from november 06 and has done 140000km at the moment.

Thanks all. Now got it all set up to auto lock the doors and auto unlock when the key is removed, just like my previous car.
