BONNET LIFT GAS STRUT.

Featured Replies

Anyone fitted one of these on a Facelift, and if so how easy and are they worth it ?

Thanks

Me too, I want one.

There was one sold on here by someone a while back, it sounded a bit fiddly to fit, but then again I'm not technically/mechanically minded, so could foul up most things.

This is where you can order one from:http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-II/Skoda-Octavia-II-power-lift-for-hood-KI-R

I was looking for gas struts too, but from memory, and correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the ones from Superskoda only for mark 1 Octy?

Mike

The one in that link says Mark II and FL Octavia... The picture on the site is a FL too.. I could be tempted.... But it does look a bit cheap and nasty so I may just persuade myself that putting the bonnet stay down isn't too much hassle as I only do it to check oil or top up washer fluid :)

Any drilling involved? :S:'( :S

No drilling at all it uses the original bonnet hinge retaining bolts on the n/s and the lower part of the strut uses one of the wing retaining bolt holes. Sorted!

Just ordered the SuperSkoda one in carbon. Will get some spray paint for the bracket. Cheers for info :)

The Octy II pre or face lift is Golf, so the OEM one will fit, I did this to my MKII but did not take off when sold. You need to buy two parts from VAG (VW best) gas strut and the bulk head bracket. Once fitted it's excellent and so much better than the one mentioned here........The only drawback is fitting the bracket, I used pop rivets x 2, a bit fiddly but it secured well.....I'm thinking of doing again so will post up some pics when done......

If you don't mind can you let me know how much it cost overall (did you get stung VAT & Import Tax) & how easy is it to fit it, did you need any special tools.
