Pollen Filter

Featured Replies

Took out the pollen filter as the blower was barely working (which seems to have cured the problem).

Question is how do you clean it? Or does it just need replacing?

i just replaced mine

Sure mine was only about £10 delivered, not worthwhile attempting to clean imo

Looks like I'll be buying a new one then. In the mean time am I ok driving around without one in?

You should be OK, though you run the risk of drawing leaves and other debris into the fan. This would put it out of balance and make it sound noisy. If it's only for a short time you could use it with the recirculation on and open the window for some fresh air.

Hell of a noisy!

Don't bother with the charcoal type it's not worth the extra outlay!

I've had both types so speak from experience!emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I'd say that depends on whither the user has pollen allergies - ie suffers from hay fever - my wife does and the carbon filter seems to improve things - so I tend to buy the "including carbon" filters for her Polo and just in case, for my Passat.

Disagree - I went from a new non-charcoal to a new charcoal filter and in slow moving traffic, the charcoal type definately performs better at filtering out some of the fumes.
