What would you do (and most importantly why) ?

In November the lease ends on the Crossdresser^H^H^H C-Crosser and as such I am looking at what I want next. Am not going to lease again, and as such have a budget of around £9K max. We only use the car in the weekends due to work being a 5 minute walk away from home, and Mrs Q looking after the kids and my dinner ;) This leads to the following requirements:

1) Big enough for family of 4 with luggage. A roofrack is acceptable for those exceptional circumstances (like going to NL at Xmas with a boot full of pressies just to unwrap them and then bring back again).

2) Fast enough to keep me entertained (there is no such thing as too fast ;))

3) Being able to tow a caravan. Not something I'd buy myself, but since my dad passed away, my parents caravan sits unloved and my mum has told me I can have it if I want it. The kids would love it, so I think we'll have no option but to accept the gift.

So...

Head

or

Heart

Thats a tough one Q!

What about something like an S4??

you have a £9 budget?

budget of around £9 max.

I think you might struggle with a £9 budget

Beemer for me

Hmm, spot a pattern here ;)

I've done the heart thing before and it was expensive, and I've just done the head thing by leasing this car, and it was just painfully boring... If only I could do both!

BMW Hands down. Not in that colour though :p

Just think how fast you could tow that caravan :D

Also rear wheel drive and 400bhp. Lots of fun in that and if your a dab hand driver you can have loads of fun power sliding :giggle: (not with a caravan of course :D)

Carl

Heart.

No, head.

No, definitely heart - I think.....

This is what I do every time I get a new car. If you can afford it, then the Beemer gets my vote. I know someone with one of these and it really is very nice, much nicer than the Skoda in so many ways.

The Skoda is the first car i've brought with my head. I dont necessarily regret it, but i cant look past a Beemer without a jealous look in my eye.

That said, would a nice 330d Estate or similar not be a reasonable comprimise? Space for everything you need, fast, usably economical, and perfect for towing.

This isn't really an honest question, is it?

It's an M5, right?

Either Head or something else - I've never wanted to own a BMW

.....you can have loads of fun power sliding :giggle: (not with a caravan of course :D)

Oh, I don't know. That sounds like a challenge to me!

I voted with the Beemer. How about the concession to the head and opt for a 530D? Just thinking of the fuel costs of a run to NL in a loaded M5.. :o

i know im new here, but im supprised how many ppl are going for the Beemer!

I feel they are over priced for what you get...... id say the Octy!!

Looks nicer..... better price............ incogneto! B)

Not for 9k it ain't

Not for 9k it ain't

Read the poll options, it most certainly is :)

M5 all the way.emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

That's a really difficult one.

I would say don't go with your head or your heart, go with your gut.

Why put up with second best?

Mondeo ST ? (not that I've ever wanted one of them either, mind you)

It's not on the list.......

Get an Alfa :p

or the BM if you really have to

I feel they are over priced for what you get...... id say the Octy!!

So, your getting one of the best cars BMW make, for the same money as a second hand Skoda, and its overpriced?

Other than running costs, and ability to drive in the snow, i cant think of any other logical reasons to buy the Skoda over the Beemer.
