Nasty Looking Screw in C-Pillar Trim

Featured Replies

Octavia was in the body shop for some repairs to near-side doors but when there were multiple internal trim issues. These went back to the bodyshop to get sorted out, but one issue in particular is left over....

On the near-side C-pillar trim, a silver self-tapping screw is very visible. I only noticed this after the car had been repaired (the first time) and complained about it, thinking the body shop had done a bodge job of refitting the trim.

They've just been back in touch to say they've contacted Skoda who have confirmed this is normal for Octavia II (pre facelift), and they've received a few complaints about it due to the untidy finish. The screw isn't visible on the off-side, but when I took a peek behind the door seal - there it was (at least it was hidden though).

Does anyone elses Octavia have this? Is it a well known issue right enough?

i also have this on mine and also thought that someone had previously done a poor job of refitting the rear interior trim.

on mine too, can only see it on one side peeking out from under the rubber trim, put more noticeable on the other side

this is completely standard....... i guarantee it...

Nothing on mine... And just go p!ssed wet through checking it.......

Yep - just been out in the cold and wet - found a screw on both sides under the rubber seal

Standard fit, adds resale value. :-)

Thanks for the responses, glad mine isn't the only one with this standard feature!

I'm sure the reason I never noticed it before was the rubber seal was hiding it. When I got the car back from the body shop, the entire near-side trim had been thrown back in to the car with everything squint, gaps, loose and wobbling (including the rubber seal, and the massive gap around the seat trim you can also see in the photo).

I've not got it back after their second attempt and everything has been refitted the way its supposed to look. The positioning of the rubber seal has changed and now covers 95% of that ugly screw head, barely noticable.

Wow I was going to say that there's no way it should be there.....then I checked mine and it's there, well hidden.
