Can't access menu to change anything!

Featured Replies

Hello this may well be a silly question so i appologise in advance, but i have searched previous threads and my manual and i don't seem to be able to figure out how to get into my on board computers menu to change settings like: anti hijack, come home lights and to switch on both rear fogs. when i press the A/B button on my wiper stalk it only allows me to go through things like, distance to empty, temp, trip computer! i have a 2010 Octy VRS i didnt ask for any extras and the sales man didnt even suggest any, and at the time i was more than happy with the spec.i have reached the conclusion that i dont have Maxidot (although i thought it was standard on this vehicle particularly it being a 2010 model ) am i right in thinking if i want any of the above settings on i will have to go to my dealer to sort? any help would be appreciated thanks

When you turn on the ignition, do you get an overhead schematic of the car showing if doors/bonnet/boot are open? If so, you've got maxidot. if not, not.

i do yes thats what has confused me it looks like i have maxidot but dont seem to be able to access it. when i turn the ignition on the car appears and any open doors the car turns red!

You have to hold the lower button for a few seconds to get into the menu.

when you say the lower button do you mean button (B) which says ok/reset and is located underneath the stalk? im sure i have tried depressing this for 2sec + to no avail!

its the rocker button at the end of the wiperstalk you need to hold for a few seconds

that is meant to be a capital B in brackets by the way sorry it appeared as a smiley with shades on in my previous post

yes i have done that too does it matter if i hold it up or down as it is a rocker switch? also i have the engine running is that ok or should it be done without the car running but the ignition on

Just making sure that you haven't got the Multifunction Steering Wheel (MFSW)?

nope your in the right place, i just hold it down for a few seconds and then screen changes to the following option menu. audio, mdf, settings

No i dont have the MFSW. is it possible the dealer has disabled the maxidot so i have to take it to them for any changes?

wouldnt of thought they can disable the rocker. Just make sure the car is on but not moving and the doing the above should make it work.

From what you are describing, I personally think you haven't got maxidot. It's only standard on the vRS if you have the DSG gearbox (as far as I know), so if yours is manual, and you didn't specify it as an option, I don't think it will be fitted

The fact you say the car graphic goes red if a door is open - I have maxidot on my 59 plate vRS (ordered it as an extra), on mine the graphic stays white if a door is open, it just shows a open door for the relevant one. The graphic is a big overhead view of the car (about 3-4cm tall), white on a black background, in the panel between the speedo and rev counter. I don't mean to sound patronising, but are you seeing the big graphic, or a just a warning light (eg: same size as the handbrake on warning icon?), If you don't get the big graphic, you've not got maxidot.

You dont have maxidot.

Its only standard on the DSG gearbox..Otherwise its an option

Its in black and white until you have a problem, then it turns yellow for a warning...or red for urgent/danger

does your dash look like this??

Mine doesn't, the red on the rev counter starts at 5000 on mine :)
