Hi there

My power steering has just stopped working and the light is up on the dash. I have checked with VAG COM and the error is displayed below. I have also checked the terminations on the pump and all the fuses and they all appear ok.

1 Fault Found:

01309 - Power Steering Control Module (J500)

49-00 - No Communications

That's about as far as I go I'm afraid. Sure somebody will do better than me though.

Lack of comms probably means the unit is dead, rather than a broken wire. However, I woudl check all wiring and the plug on the PAS pump, just to check. Not sure if there is a separate ABS/brakes module not on the pump.

Cheers for the help, I think your right it's the pump thats gone, got the car booked in today at the garage, so will probably be a few quid lighter after it.

How old is the car? The pump is expensive as hell new, so would consider looking at recon units or items from breakers on Ebay.
